Case Study 2

Dundee University

The company has formed a long term relationship with Dundee University Student Union providing underwear and lids on a yearly basis.

Dundee Students Union Lid DesignAt the onset a large number of lids were purchased at the start of the smoking ban in Scotland, and designed to advertise the facilities offered to students. The establishment is highly proactive in the field of safety and then adopted a sexual awareness campaign.
We provided underwear to support the development of their strategy and have continued to do so. The products are available throughout the establishment and are now run by a peer mentor system where students who have been in situ help and discuss problematic areas in campus life with new students.

Partnerships have developed with other Universities, Police Forces and Councils providing personal safety and awareness advice revolving around the products that we provide.

The Union Team Leader has reported that the drive was a huge success this year and has attracted publicity from media, major pop groups and television personalities who in turn, can and will, influence young people.Warning to freshers on drink-spiking dangers

FIRST-YEAR students at Dundee University last night learned a valuable lesson last night—a drink left unattended could be spiked.

Undercover police officers were at the student union promoting awareness of the issue by placing swizzle sticks bearing the slogan “Next Time It Could Be Drugs” into drinks set aside.

"Constable Gavin Munro said, “Reported incidents of drink-spiking in Dundee are extremely rare. Through experience over the years we have found that the vast majority of people who think they may have had their drink spiked have simply drunk too much, however, we do recognise that the issue does raise concern among revellers and both Tayside Police and Dundee University Students’ Association take drink-spiking extremely seriously.”

He urged anyone who suspects a drink has been spiked to call the police.

Michelle Bazeleyof the students’ association said there is a zero-tolerance policy on the supply and use of drugs.
